Day of Grattitude

As I reflect a lot this week leading up to Thanksgiving I have so much gratitude for my feiends this year. After my surgery, I was surrounded by love and support. As I continue my chemo treatments every Wednesday, friends have offered to take me and I've actually enjoyed those days with the company:) These last 7 months since my diagnosis in May have a few days I would like to forget, but many more days I'm thankful for because of friendship. I don't have a big family and so I have really appreciated all of you more than you know.

Also I am feeling that is has been so nice to reconnect with old friends who I have not seen in a very long time. Making time for coffee makes me realize how we can't wait until something like this happens to us to make the time to connect with others who we may have lost touch with again. Yes, we all have busy lives as moms and wives we often put ourselves last after everything else is done. Let's face it, the jobs are constant and are never done so we have to make the time for ourselves!

As my wise grandmother, Elizabeth tells me "You have to take care of the machine that does the work first before you will have anything possible to give". Still living at 97 years young, she would know:) Happy Thanksgiving everyone and please know how much grattitude I have that you are all in my life!🌈

Had to get a shot with my favorite nurse, Jamie at Mass General Hospital for making my weekly infusions so enjoyable! I certainly did not think it possible:) Feeling so grateful for the care and doctors at MGH as I reflect during this week about what I'm thankful for😘.

Chemo Today With Irene's Support

Thank you to my neighbor and dear friend Irene for taking me to my chemo infusion at Exeter Hospital. The healing garden had amazing fall colors, so we had to do a selfie today!  I also really appreciated all the cool hats her sister made for me like this one.  Talent runs in the family. Thanks for keeping me smiling today and we actually had a good time at the hospital.  A woman came by to offer me a complimentary massage while I was in the middle of the infusion and coordinating all the cold cap, cold mitts and cold booties to help prevent neuropathy, thanks to the company who gave me a complimentary set, Southwest Technologies, and Elasto-Gel is the product name.  I highly recommend them and have had absolutely no signs of neuropathy, plus my hair has stopped falling out since I have used the cold caps as well:)  I plan to put a resource tab up on this site soon for people faced with my situation to get support or order what they need to minimize the symptoms.  One of my clear goals is to educate and assist others since this opportunity/diagnosis was presented to me...got to look at the reasons and the bright side!

I would like to thank my childhood friend Beverly Swan Stycos for her love and support. She has assisted me in so many ways and was resourceful in reaching out to many old friends. It's so amazing when you can pick-up the phone and be friends still year after year regardless of the miles between us, yet still feel as close as ever:) We were besties in middle school and high school and Maids of Honor in eachother's wedding. I love you sister!
